America Celebrates 250 Years of Independence

By James Lowe

On July 4, 2026, the United States of America will celebrate its 250th anniversary—a remarkable milestone in our nation’s history. As we reflect on two and a half centuries of progress, perseverance, and achievement, we are reminded of the many blessings God has bestowed upon our country. This historic occasion provides an opportunity to celebrate our heritage, honor those who came before us, and express gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy today.

While no list could fully capture the breadth of America’s history, the following timeline highlights several significant events that have shaped our nation. The number in parentheses represents the age of the United States at the time of each event, followed by the year(s) in which it occurred.

We are privileged to live in a nation that has long valued liberty, opportunity, and self-governance. As Christians, we recognize that every good gift comes from God, and we remain grateful for His continued guidance and protection.

Psalm 33:12(NLT) reminds us, “What joy for the nation whose God is the LORD, whose people He has chosen as his inheritance.”

As we celebrate this historic anniversary, may we use our freedoms wisely and responsibly. Let us continue to love our neighbors, serve our communities, and contribute positively to the future of our nation.

Galatians 5:13 (NLT) encourages us: “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another.”

Strength For The Day

Each week, PAYH shares a devotional; “Strength For The Day,” by Chaplain (Col) Stephen W. Leonard, USA, Ret. In addition to being a retired US Army Chaplain, he is also the husband of our Co-Founder, Glenda Anderson Leonard. His writing is both moving and inspiring and will most certainly lift your spirit and encourage you in your walk with Jesus. To receive his weekly writing, you can subscribe online at payh.org. Having A “PAW-sitive” Impact

Life at The PAYH is about more than routines and responsibilities—it’s also about the special bonds formed with the animals that call the campus home. From Honey (left) and June-bug (right) spending time with the boys, to Sadie roaming the grounds with Mr. Eddie and Garfield keeping watch around the property. There is Zeke (Glenda and Stephen’s Indoor Cat), the residential supervisor Jenkins the dog, Mags, the hypersonic missile, Opie, our feline campus spy, and rounding out the canine collection, dogs Angus and Moo-Moo, who both love attention and a good belly rub. These companions bring joy, comfort, and plenty of smiles each day.

From Idaho Fields to PAYH Plates

We all know the old adage, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Who better to understand this than Mark Daniels and the Famous Idaho Potatoes. They provided the delicious potatoes featured in this incredible dish, which the young men at The PAYH enjoyed. Even better, the fresh dill garnish came straight from our Goodness Garden, grown right here on the campus. Partnerships like these help nourish both body and spirit!

Every Call. Every Gift.
