There are things about God and your relationship with Him that are way beyond your capacity to comprehend truly. Do you contemplate at all that you were personally “known” by God long before you were even created, before being named by your parents, or ever had your first thought? Actually, before the seas or mountains even existed? Before Adam and Eve walked in the Garden of Eden?
This is far too much to comprehend. How does God do this when the population of even the elect is so great? How can He personally know so many human beings? God is far beyond any created person’s capacity to grasp. He exceeds your mind’s imagination to even take in His vast, infinite greatness. You can only stand in awe of Him, rather than think His “knowing” you before the foundation of the earth is simply impossible.
We think in terms of what we know ourselves and experience as created human beings. We cannot put God in the same “created box.” He is The Creator and far exceeds all He has created. Man can’t help himself by figuring out how God can do all that the Scriptures declare of Him. This is why God can only be approached and explained by faith. We receive and trust who God is by faith. It is ludicrous even to question, “How can God do that or be that?”
The proposition that God “knew” you thousands and thousands of years before you were is only something to wonder at and adore. It is intended to evoke your love and worship, not your comprehension. His ways are far above yours; it is past your finding out.
Only love Him and worship Him. This is the purpose of the Scriptures in striving to reveal Himself to you. There are no words in human language capable of explaining Him. He is always a mystery, but He can still be loved and adored even in all His profound mystery.
That He actually would stoop to your level to have a relationship forever with you; a personal relationship that Jesus, the only God-man, guarantees in His becoming man for the rest of eternity, is mesmerizing. This is nothing but the very best “good news” for you and me!
