PAYH exists to help transform the lives of troubled young men and their families!

The four core initiatives we pursue daily to accomplish this are:

  • Planting God’s Word in their lives and discipling them through mentoring and modeling
  • Providing therapeutic counseling and substance abuse treatment
  • Supplying a fully accredited high school and vocational training
  • Supporting our graduates long-term through our Transition Program

Since 1961, Paul Anderson Youth Home has provided a Christian home environment in which young men can rebuild their broken lives through a process involving recovery, restoration, and redemption. Paul believed that by investing in the lives of troubled young men, communities, and cultures could be transformed.

The PAYH “Shape Up” program, designed by our founders, Olympic Gold Medalist Paul Anderson and his wife Glenda, emphasizes:

S – Spiritual Guidance

H – Honorable Work Ethic

A – Academic Excellence

P – Physical Fitness

E – Emotional and Social Development

Educational Opportunities

At Paul Anderson Youth Home, we offer several means by which our young men can further their education and develop marketable skills. In addition to an on-campus, fully-accredited high school, we offer vocational training and opportunities to earn college credit. Furthermore, we help prepare them to function as contributing members of society through our practical life skills training.

Counseling

Counseling

The teenage years can be an extremely difficult time that many young men struggle to navigate. Providentially, Paul Anderson Youth Home is here to help. Our credentialed, professional staff provides Christ-centered, therapeutic counseling in a fully confidential setting. Through a Biblical, clinical approach to family, group, and individual counseling, we help young men and their families identify and negotiate through their presenting problems, get to the underlying issues, and find resolution.

Spiritual Development

Every young man at PAYH is exposed to Scripture on a daily basis. Through daily Bible study, weekly Scripture memorization, individual and corporate prayer, and a robust discipleship program, we seek to plant God’s Word in the hearts of our young men. It is our fervent desire that every young man who enters the PAYH program comes to know Christ.

Transition Propram

Transition Program

We know how difficult it can be for young men who have worked hard to change the direction of their lives to leave the safety and structure they have found at PAYH and transition smoothly into the outside world. Because of our desire to see them live full lives, our transition team works diligently with our young men and their families to create an individualized transition plan that meets the immediate and future goals of each graduate and places him in a positive, supportive environment where he has the best opportunity to succeed.

Addiction Treatment

Nearly 90% of the young men who come to PAYH suffer from some form of drug abuse or addiction. Upon entering the program, young men undergo an assessment and our clinical staff develop and implement a treatment plan based on their individual needs. This will include individual and group counseling, education, and participation in evidence-based programs such as Motivation for Chance, Moral Reconation Therapy, and SMART Recovery. Moreover, we believe that Jesus’ Lordship, God’s Word, and the Holy Spirit’s power bring freedom from addiction, and that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the first and most important step to recovery.
