“But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”-  Luke 12:20-21

June 6, 1944 will n’er be forgotten in our lifetime, nor for many years after. Unfortunately, there are far too many today who do not know how to spell “history,” much less teach it or take note of it.
But this incredible day marked the beginning of the end of the Third Reich and Hitler’s merciless dictatorship over tens of millions of viciously oppressed people. This is a day which, whether you remember it or not, held a vast significance for the lives of all the world’s population.
Intelligent people know what transpired on this day and what it meant for the world, but fewer know about the months and years of preparation which preceded it. Months of arduous and repeated practice of everything over and over that would take place from this day’s very wee hours to those immediately after. This “practice” and “preparation” was realistic and surpassingly costly. Numerous lives were lost, equipment destroyed, ammunition used, new inventions engineered, and the costs were astronomical.
One of the most miraculous and purposeful activities of everything was using ultimate creativeness and fierce endeavors to create the perfect maintenance of secrecy and deception from and to the enemy of the actual date and location of the greatest invasion in the history of mankind.
When you have carefully studied all the massive preparations for this most momentous of all days in history, you have to think of another day which far surpasses this and any other since the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Namely, the day of the return of Jesus Christ which marks the absolute end of history as we now know it.
If such preparation for D-Day was necessary to make it successful, what is required in preparation for the day, the exact moment, of Jesus’ coming back to earth when the stopwatch of time strikes zero?
What preparation are you making for this day? Or if you do not live to see it, your preparation for the day you yourself stand in Jesus’ presence? Your life throughout all eternity future stands in the balance!
“Great God, what do I see and hear! The end of things created! The Judge of mankind doth appear on clouds of glory seated! The trumpet sounds; the graves restore the dead which they contained before: prepare, my soul, to meet him.”
(1st verse of anonymous author of hymn, “Great God, What Do I See and Hear!” 1802)
