“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever.” Isaiah 40:8

A very recent poll tells us the percentage is now down to 20% from the previous 24% of those alleged Christians who believe the Bible is truly God’s Word and without error. Hmmm? God’s Word, really? This poll says the other 80% believe it is just a book, filled with a compilation of stories written by men telling stories that are mixed with myths, stories which contain numerous errors; in other words, nothing fully trustworthy is within it.

A paltry 20% believe the Bible to be God’s Holy Word. Fully trustworthy! A treasure to be loved and memorized! Read daily! To be meditated upon and used as THE guide in life by which to live your life! And you can know that this Bible is God-breathed by His Holy Spirit!

In the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus in the New Testament, the rich man pleads with Abraham to send Lazarus back from the dead to tell his family the gospel; he knows that they will certainly perish if they do not turn to its truth as he did not. They will be certainly impressed with the testimony of Lazarus, who has returned from the dead.

Abraham answers the rich man that his family has Moses and the Prophets (the Old Testament Bible) available to them. They can read them if they want the truth. If they do not believe Moses and the Prophets, they will never believe, even someone who has returned from the dead to warn them. If they will not read it and believe it, they will perish just like him.

Chilling words to think about. The Word of God is no ordinary book filled with errors. It is the Book of Life. It points one to life instead of eternal hell. The Word of God never fails! It is the one truth that all men can count on. All else will be destroyed, but the Word of God endures forever.

That is just how important this Bible is! This is its self-testimony that it records over and over concerning its contents. It claims for itself that the answers to life are found on its pages. It is a living book, not a dusty, old compilation of men’s errors and fabrications. Yet 80% of professing Christians say that is just what it is. What then must all the rest of non-Christian humanity think about it?

There is essentially among the world’s population great ignorance about the Bible. Many have never cracked its covers. If they have, they have read little of it. And what they believe of its message is nil. If they say anything about it, their words ring of disparagement or total ignorance. The end of such people is predicted. The Bible says they will all likewise perish. These are truly chilling, fearful, horrendous words.

The famous French philosopher, Voltaire, once predicted that the Bible would be no more in the next hundred years. It would cease to be read and cease to exist. One hundred years from when Voltaire made this prediction and long after his death, the Evangelical Society of Geneva’s Headquarters was based in Voltaire’s former home in Geneva, Switzerland. Whose prediction was correct? Voltaire’s or the Bible’s?

Encouragement

“And though this world with devils filled, should threaten to undue us, we will not fear, for God hath willed his truth to triumph through us. The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him; his rage we can endure, for lo! his doom is sure; one little word shall fell him.
That Word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth; the Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; the body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still; his kingdom is forever.”
(3rd and 4th verses of Martin Luther’s hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” 1529)
