God’s Work in a Season of Renewal
By Dr. Jeff Padgett
Chief Communications Officer, Paul Anderson Youth Home
Spring reminds us that new beginnings are always possible. After months of cold, quiet dormancy, the world around us comes back to life—trees bud, grass greens, and flowers bloom where nothing seemed to be growing before. At The Paul Anderson Youth Home, spring mirrors much of what we witness every day in the lives of the young men we serve.
Many of the young men who arrive at PAYH come from seasons of hardship—times marked by brokenness, instability, and discouragement. Like winter-worn soil, their potential may not be immediately visible. But just as spring reveals what was always beneath the surface, time, care, structure, and faith begin to uncover growth that was there all along.
At PAYH, we intentionally cultivate an environment where growth can happen. Through consistent routines, accountability, education, counseling, and spiritual guidance, we provide the nutrients these young men need to take root and thrive. Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Just like a seed, it requires patience, perseverance, and the right conditions. Some days bring visible progress; others feel quiet and slow—but even then, growth is still happening.
Spring also teaches us the value of renewal. This season invites reflection, change, and recommitment. We see young men begin to believe in themselves again, rediscover their purpose, and set new goals for their futures. Old habits are replaced with healthier choices. Hopelessness gives way to confidence. Fear begins to loosen its grip as faith takes hold.
Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “there is a season for everything.” At The PAYH, we are grateful to walk alongside these young men during a season of rebuilding and renewal. We celebrate every small victory—improved attitudes, stronger relationships, academic success, spiritual growth, and the courage it takes to keep moving forward.
As spring unfolds, we are reminded that transformation is possible for all of us. Thank you to our supporters, staff, volunteers, and prayer partners who faithfully help tend this ground. Your generosity and encouragement make it possible for young lives to be restored and futures to be reshaped.
Just as spring promises new life, we remain hopeful and confident that the seeds planted here at Paul Anderson Youth Home will continue to grow—producing strong, resilient young men ready to step into the next season of their lives.

Strength For The Day
Each week, PAYH shares a devotional; “Strength For The Day,” by Chaplain (Col) Stephen W. Leonard, USA, Ret. In addition to being a retired US Army Chaplain, he is also the husband of our Co-Founder, Glenda Anderson Leonard. His writing is both moving and inspiring and will most certainly lift your spirit and encourage you in your walk with Jesus. To receive his weekly writing, you can subscribe online at payh.org. A Spud-tacular Visit:
Mark Daniels Inspires PAYH Young Men
We are incredibly grateful to Mark Daniels, Retail Promotion Director at the Idaho Potato Commission, for taking time out of his busy schedule to speak with our boys. His willingness to share his experience, insight, and encouragement made a meaningful impact and reminded our young men of the value of hard work, leadership, and perseverance.
Thank you, Mark, for investing in the next generation and for your heart to pour into their lives—we truly appreciate you!

The Great Georgia Blizzard (Of Exactly 14 Flakes)
We did get snow at The PAYH… technically.
Let’s just say if you squint hard enough, turn your head a little, and believe in miracles, you might spot a few flakes scattered across the grounds.
Our official measurement: “Somewhat more than nothing… but only just.”
Winter wonderland? Not quite. Winter whisper? Absolutely.
Stay warm out there!
Wisdom For The World Ahead
At the Paul Anderson Youth Home, education doesn’t stop when the school day ends.
We believe in going beyond the classroom — teaching our young men to understand not only their lessons, but the world around them. From local headlines to global events, they’re learning to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and engage culture with wisdom and discernment.
Staying informed builds awareness.
Awareness builds responsibility.
Responsibility builds leaders.
We’re raising young men who are not just educated — but equipped.

When Leaders Pour In, Young Men Rise Up
We were honored to welcome Drew Callaghan, Senior Vice President of Sales at Grimmway Produce Group (RPE), to speak with our young men.
Drew generously took time out of his busy schedule to pour into the boys’ lives—sharing wisdom, leadership insights, and encouragement on work ethic, integrity, and pursuing excellence. Moments like these make a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for leaders who are willing to invest in the next generation.
Thank you, Drew, for believing in these young men and for helping shape their future. Your words matter more than you know.

More Than a Game: Big Swings & Bigger Growth at Topgolf
The PAYH boys had an unforgettable day at Topgolf!
From big swings to bigger laughs, it was more than just golf — it was about building confidence, strengthening brotherhood, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Opportunities like this give our young men the chance to step outside their routine, encourage one another, and experience healthy fun in a positive environment.
We’re grateful for moments like these that remind our boys they are capable of greatness — on and off the tee.
The Road To Race Day
The miles are adding up, and so is the determination.
Our boys have been putting in the work—early mornings, steady pacing, and pushing past limits—as they prepare for the Chick-fil-A Vidalia Road Race on March 7, 2026, and the Vidalia Onion Run on May 25. Every step they take is about more than a finish line. It’s about discipline, perseverance, and learning that growth comes one mile at a time.
We’re proud of their commitment and excited to see them represent our community well. Let’s cheer them on as they train hard and run with purpose!
