October 2021 is declared “Paul Anderson Youth Home Month” by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp

We are so proud that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp created a proclamation to honor the Paul Anderson Youth Home. October 2021 was declared “Paul Anderson Youth Home Month.” It is such an honor to be recognized by the state of Georgia and we are so thrilled with this designation!

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
A PROCLAMATION
PAUL ANDERSON YOUTH HOME MONTH

WHEREAS:
Paul Anderson, a native of Taccoa, Georgia, gained international prominence and fame after his gold medal win at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Anderson set a weightlifting record and was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as “The World’s Strongest Man”; and

WHEREAS:
Anderson’s fame granted him the opportunity to travel the country and speak to hundreds of civic groups as a goodwill ambassador. It was during these travels where Anderson and his wife, Glenda, realized their desire to give young men a second chance in society through Christ-centered relationships; and

WHEREAS:
In 1961, the Anderson’s founded the Paul Anderson Youth Home in Vidalia, Georgia. Since opening, the home has given a second chance to over 1,400 young men between the ages of 16 and 21. The positive environment provided by the youth home has allowed these young men to rebuild their lives through recovery, restoration, and redemption; and

WHEREAS:
The Paul Anderson Youth Home grew from a humble beginning to earn all the necessary accreditations to provide quality education and daily life lessons on responsibility, self-reliance, and worth ethic rooted in Christian values. Even after the passing of Paul Anderson, the youth home continues to flourish and bolster the community; and

WHEREAS:
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and through the legacy of Paul Anderson and the dedication of his wife and youth home staff, troubled young men, their families, and the State of Georgia are being valiantly served; now

THEREFORE:
I, BRIAN P. KEMP, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim October 2021 as PAUL ANDERSON YOUTH HOME MONTH in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 29th day of March in the year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Twenty-One.
